Ideas

First Lesson- Foxy

What needs to be here:
media context & legal and ethical. Representation

Introduction-

We talked about what we can do for the live multi-camera ideas for our project and what we can do for it, the picture on the left is of the board that we had written all of the examples we had come up within the lesson.

Examples of Shows-

This Morning:

This morning is a daytime TV show that talks about the news but also put on topics like hacks, cooking tips and tricks and other things that they're demographic find interesting. It is mainly news based but they also have competitions, seasonal topics on the show with some small improv sections from the hosts.

Judge Rinder:

Judge Rinder is a show about people taking cases and letting Judge Rinder oversee the outcome even though he is not officially judiciary of the United Kingdom. It is a reality-based show and is thought to be based on an America show similar to it called Judge Judy.

Loose Woman:

Loose Woman is a show that is an all-woman panel that talks about stuff that is aimed at their demographic, mothers and middle-aged woman/ housewife. They cover things that are going on in the world, social trends and partner debates. They also have celebrity guests, male and female, come in to promote something, talk about topics on that days show and about personal things going on in their lives.

Take me out:

Take me out is a dating show that is hosted by Paddy Mcguinness, the show has 30 single girls, 15 each side of the lift, who have each got a button. A guy comes down the lift and has to tell them his name and where he lives, the girls judge him on his appearance and then he has to get through 3 rounds and if there are girls left at the end of it the guy has to get it down from whatever number of girls is left to two girls. If there is two left then it skips to him asking the question, and if there are no girls left at any point he goes home with nothing. When the guy asks them a question he then gets to choose out of the two left who he wants a date with then they go off to the 'the Isle of Fernando's 2018

Come Dine With Me:

The audience for come dine with me would be shown in the show as quite diverse but have mundane jobs, for example, retail, primary school teacher, amateur cook or waiter est. Working class, semi-detached house, ethnicity- white, female, middle age.

Baggage-

Baggage is a dating show where the contestants choose one another and show their biggest flaw or baggage. Stuff like 'I have 30 cats' to what strange things they are into, like their partner pretending they are something or someone else.

My Three Shows:

The Last Leg-

The last leg was originally a recap and a comedic view on the paralytics and was made to run alongside the Paralympics in 2012 hosted by two disabled comedians and Josh Widdicombe. The show turned into more of a genial news cover about politics as well as the paralytics and just the things going on in the news. It is an entertainment talk/ panel show like 'Have I got News for You' and 'Alan Carr Chatty Man' which is actually filmed by the same production company. These shows put a funny or light-hearted view of what is happening in the world. The last leg uses social media, like Twitter to interact with fans and see the viewers points of view on subjects. They also use it to create polls and have hashtags like #isitok, this creates new topics and un-planned convocation.

It is made in front of a live audience at the Riverside studios in London it is live recorded at 10:00PM to 11:00PM.
I would believe that they use around 7 to 10 cameras to film the show. The company called open mike productions. other things open mike production are in this list.
Even though the reviews on the show are not the best as they don't really go above 5 stars on IMDb- The Last Leg reviews- IMDb. The show still is getting around 1.5-2 million shown on the wiki page- By Episode View Charts.
The show is live, with profile camera on each post and guest, when they are there on the sofa with the co-hosts, there are audience cameras and a few, 2-3, wide set cameras to get different angles of all of the presenters and guests showing some audience members who have seats in the stand behind them.
There are usually around 2-4 guests per show but if the show is on then they are showing the Paralympics it can range to teams so getting into 10-14 guests, when this is happening there are a few that are the 'leading guests', meaning they talk for the group of guests more. This would put the profile cameras on them when talking but overall they have more of a genial shot of the couch when that amount of people are on the show. There is also a camera set to show when a guest is introduced walking out into studio.

The target audience- White male, working class, in their late 20s to late 30s, Semi-detached house working in Retail, supermarket or genial shop work. In a steady relationship or married, thinking about or already have kids.

QI-

QI is a show that has a change in the host but Stephen Fry is the main host of the show but Sandi Toksvig also hosted the show for a while. It is a show about facts and knowledge but adding a comedic view to it.

There are 4-6 panellists on two teams, depending on what sires you are watching and the two teams compete to earn points for getting the right answer. The show is more comedy based rather than knowledge based. This is something important because the show doesn't clearly show the scoring system as most knowledge and scoring based show do.

Task Master-

Image result for taskmaster studioTaskmaster is a show about giving comedies simple tasks and seeing how they will solve the problem, filmed in front of a live audience they react to clips of them doing the tasks and then get points for how they did. Hosted by Greg
Davies and Alex Horne. There is new cast over each season and the show is currently on season 7. This show is shown on the channel DAVE at 9PM. Taskmaster is actually a complex filming show, having the studio and the house to film in with the varied ways the challenges can be taken the crew need to be ready for everything and anything. The cameras need to be portable for the possibility of needing to get up and follow the cast on the road.

The house-
the house they film the most part of the tasks is in west London on a golf course in Chiswick
Passing Judgment on tasks-
On early seasons the judgement was filmed in the Clapham Grand Theatre but in later seasons was moved to a proper film set.

Mise en Scene-

The Last Leg:

It is shot in the riverside studio in front of a live audience. the costumes the hosts were is formal casual, the main host wears a suit and the two co-host are more in casual clothing. The guests are usually wearing fancy casual clothing. The desk of the main host is covered in props made to fit the themes around that episodes. The colour pallet is Red, blue and white. This picture is an example of the formal casual I mean, shirts or plan tops, some guest adds a little pattern to their outfit, like Jamie who wore a flannel over a plain white shirt.

  1. Explore target audiences of other media and , indeed, a tv channel audience's statistics (demographic) similar to your and explain when and how you piece will be aired IF it were to be broadcast on tv.... for Friday 25th Nov.
